ZIMFEST holds in UK for 11th Year

ZIMBABWE’S biggest outdoors UK festival holds for the 11th year at Raynes Park in London on August 27, organisers announced. The Zimfest, featuring sports, live music, business exhibitions and cultural exchange activities was moved indoors last year after the park where it is traditionally held became unavailable. Organisers have confirmed that the annual family event, which has attracted crowds of over 5,000 in the past, is returning to Raynes Park in Merton, south-west London.
Zimfest in run by the charity, WeZimbabwe, which is donating part of this year’s proceeds to the British Red Cross’ East Africa Crisis appeal for the famine in Somalia which threatens the lives of some 10 million people. Zimfest coordinator Hilton Mendelsohn said: “Zimfest has always had humanitarian and charitable objectives at the heart of its principles. This year we are looking to give part of the proceeds of the money raised at the festival towards perhaps the worst food crisis of the 21st Century. New Zimbabwe.com
