Long forgotten Zimbabwe singer popularly known as Changa of the ' Memo' fame is back on the music ladder with a new offering. The self-styled King of the Tribe — Changa Maxwell Chikowore, aka Changa  has released his 2011 reggae album, King of a Tribe.  Sample the new album below:

Changa, who relocated to Europe has lived in Austria and Germany where he has been making music. The Daily News caught up with Changa to talk to him about his new reggae album which he recorded in Berlin, Germany at Marcus studio. The album, King of a Tribe is his fifth reggae album. “It is called King Of a Tribe and by the way now I go by the name Changa Mire.“The album comprise of 15 songs among them Rise, I believe, All I need is you, Birds of a feather, Far away and Arrows of oppression,” said Changa. Changa said for the past two years he had been living in Austria where he formed a reggae band. “We have been holding gigs ever since. Last year I moved to Berlin, Germany where I joined a band called NRG Vibes led by Marcus who is a famous sound engineer here.” Changa said just like any Zimbabwean would tell you that Nyamatsatse likes to go under and by the time it comes back above it would be somewhere very far.

“Here in Europe I play at private functions for embassies and other institutions. I also play in reggae clubs. I have played in Amsterdam where there is a lot of competition,” said Changa. He said there were not so many Zimbabweans who came to his shows. “They come here and there but they are not many. There are many Africans from other countries who attend my shows as well as locals. They love reggae. They love the sound.”

Changa has met other artists from Zimbabwe who are now based in Europe. “I have met the boys from Bulawayo, Insingizi and we shared the stage together in Austria during the Chila African festival of the arts. Insingizi is based in Austria and they are having a terrific career here — winning awards and filling concerts.”
