Tryson Chimbetu bails out Sulumani

DENDERA musician Tryson Chimbetu bailed out his cousin Suluman Chimbetu after he stood in for him at the eleventh hour at a fund-raising show held at Philadelphia Junior School near Hatcliffe at the weekend. Sulu was supposed to perform together with rising sungura musician Herbert Majeke at the show but failed to come announcing at the last minute that he had other commitments on the day of the show. As a result, the "Dzamutsana" hitmaker had to call Tryson - the son of his late uncle Naison - to cover up for him. "Sulu failed to turn up at the last minute citing other commitments elsewhere. "He had to call Tryson to fulfil his contract in a case of family affair," said Maxwell Tigere, the chairperson of Philadelphia Junior School's Social Development Association. He added: "The turnout was not bad and Tryson put on a good show, together with Herbert Majeke. "It (the show) was an eye-opener to us, since we have many projects that need to be completed at the school including a school bus and constructing a library. We will be holding similar shows."

Efforts to seek comment from either Sulu or Tryson were fruitless, as their mobile phones were not reachable.
Apart from Tryson's impressive performance, Majeke also proved why he is one of the country's talented upcoming sungura musicians when he thrilled the crowd at the show with some of his songs like "Mabasa Ana Mai", "Fiona" and "Rudo".

Majeke sent the people, especially women, into a frenzy with the song "Mabasa Ana Mai" that praises women and mothers in general for their enormous contribution in bringing up children and making sure that life is bearable for humanity.

The versatile young artiste - who is also a sound engineer with Harare-based leading sound systems dealer, Hard Sound Pro Audio - had a fine day on stage and his music was further enhanced by the presence of seasoned drummer and music producer, Aaron Tom, who was playing the drums for him. Elsewhere, new rhumba group, Royal Court La Musica, entertained revellers at Players Nightclub in Harare at the weekend with their rhumba gems. The outfit also plays cover versions of songs by various prominent musicians and they impressed and kept the audience on their feet all night.
