“We are taking each stage as it comes and so far we are making good progress towards the awards. We are happy that we now have the nominees and now we are working towards the day of the event,” he said. The awards focus mainly on Hip Hop and will also pay tribute to the veterans and increase visibility of the genre.

The awards are aimed at giving exposure to unsigned Zimbabwean Hip Hop artistes giving them a platform to showcase their talents to their own people before taking it beyond the borders. Veteran hip hop trailblazers that deserve special mention include Shingi Mau Mau Sabeta, the late Tonderai Kingpin Makoni, Metaphysics, Chiwoniso Maraire, MoVIP, and Mr Riimz family among others.
