Tuku in lovers’ gig at Pakare Paye

Oliver Mtukudzi
As the days draw closer to the much celebrated Valentine’s Day where people get to spoil their loved ones, Pakare Paye Arts Centre is also preparing for the day. The arts centre owned by Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi is hosting a valentine’s dinner dubbed Valentines Dinner with Tuku to be held on Saturday, February 11.

There will certainly be love in the air for the predictably mature audience that follows Tuku’s music. Besides singing social songs Tuku has love songs fit for the day and would enhance lovers’ mood with renditions like SvoviYangu, Sugar Pie and others.Accompanying the superstar on stage will be his protégée Munya Mataruse to serenade people on this love-filled day.

The day has been criticised for being too commercialised and a money making venture as presents are exchanged. There are several theories regarding Valentine’s Day. Saint Valentine’s Day is understood as an annual commemoration held on February 14, celebrating love and affection between intimate companions.
