Over 40 local music acts are lined up for a grand music gala pencilled for Chipinge on March 3 to celebrate President Robert Mugabe’s 88th birthday. Announcing new developments in the robust preparations for the gala, retired Major Anywhere Mutambudzi of the Ministry of Information and Publicity said competition for best performances is on the cards.
The gala would be held at a junior school in Gaza residential suburb in Chipinge. It would be a sequel of celebration that is being in held in Mutare this weekend. Mutambudzi said, “About 40 musicians would perform at the gala including big names, Alick Macheso, Suluman Chimbetu, Andy Brown, Jeys Marabini, Tryson Chimbetu, Mercy Mutsvene, Amavhitikazi, Peter Moyo, Diana Samkange, Jusa Mupostori and Spider. A competition for best performances would be done to encourage excellence.”
