SA Gospel Star Lundi accused of theft

Lundi Tyamara
Gospel maestro Lundi Tyamara appeared in the Randburg Magistrates' Court on a charge of theft . The charge emanates from an allegation that he stole a ring worth R30000. Married couple Nomvula and Sibongiseni Mthembu, who live in Joburg, allege Lundi borrowed a jacket from them one night last November.

The ring, they claim, was in a pocket of the jacket and when he returned it the next day the ring was missing. Or "stolen," as they charge. There is, however, no proof that the ring had indeed been in the jacket pocket.
"I don't want to comment on the case before court," said Lundi when asked why he thought his alienated friends had brought a case of theft against him.

"But this is all to do with the friends that I want to cut out of my life. "Some people are unhappy that I've changed for the better and have decided to cut out many friends. So it's a way to get back at me." The presiding officer is said to have been unimpressed with the case, declining the investigating officer's recommendation to set Lundi's bail R3000. The magistrate set bail at R1000 and postponed the matter to next month.

A court source says the matter is likely to be dismissed at Lundi's next appearance as there was no evidence other than the couple's statement. And Lundi is back recording after he claimed he was quitting the music industry. (Sowetanlive)
