SENSATIONAL pole dancer Beverly Sibanda, who has rocked the local entertainment scene with her captivating and sexy dance routines, will battle it out with raunchy dancer and singer Sandra Ndebele and Zoey at a show to be held at City Sports Bar in Harare tomorrow. However, Sandra will tonight take music fans on an entertainment roller-coaster when she stages a gig at Richwood Sports Club in Mabelreign.
The club, which is under new management, opened its doors to the public a few weeks ago and Sandra's debut performance is expected to rejuvenate the place, while giving it a new impetus. Following a night of music bliss, fun and dance at Richwood, Beverly and Zoey will tomorrow join the Bulawayo-based dancer for a potentially explosive night of gyrating at the City Sports Bar. What makes the show one of its kind is that it will feature not only the "sexsational" duo (Sandy and Beverly), as the two dancers have come to be nicknamed in entertainment circles, but will also see yet another sultry dancer, Zoey, coming in to to give the two a good run for their money.
But above everything else, the show dubbed "The ladies' affair" meant to further stamp their authority in local showbiz circles. There was a time in local showbiz when female artistes were taking a back seat, letting their male counterparts take all the accolades, while they remained in the background or as supporting acts. But this is no longer the case, because the ladies have since realised that the market is quite versatile. Female artistes like Bev, Zoey and Sandra are charting a new course for local female artistes.
Despite the sex symbol tag they have, the three artistes are definitely out to prove that this year is indeed a year for ladies, that is if declarations made by one leading female artiste, Fungisai Zvakavapano-Mashavave, to be actively involved in the arts, are anything to go by. As for Beverly, the dancer has caused a big stir with her pole dancing acts, that are the talk of the town and her group - Sexy Angels - have lived up to their name.
Another dimension to Bev's shows is that she is not only good at pole dancing, a novelty in Zimbabwean entertainment circles, she is as versatile as they came and at home with rhumba, sungura and kwaito. Sandy, on the other hand, has been in the business for a long time and those who have attended her shows know how captivating her acts are, and always leave many a reveller salivating and yearning for more. Zoey is no pushover and will be eager to upstage Beverly and become the queen of the pole. (Herald)
