Boyz II Men to Perform in Harare on 31 March

Boys II Men
Zimbabwe – American R and B crooners of all times Boyz II Men are to perform in Harare on March 31 at the “Jazz under the Stars” concert. The all male outfit which gained fame in 1992 makes a debut travel to Zimbabwe curtsey of Freedom Ad.

Freedom Maziriri promoter of the show confirmed the performance of Boyz II Men which he says should give local music lovers a different feel and balance to international musical acts that have been dominated by Jamaican Reggae and Dancehall artists in the last year.

“It has been long overdue for Zimbabwe to be graced by such a highly commended musical group which offers a different feel of music. We have seen an influx of reggae and ragga artistes recently and I thought that it was time for a change,” Maziriri said.

Boyz II Men who were on January 5, 2012, awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame are coming to Zimbabwe after a successful tour by US gospel Hip Hop artistes Kirk Franklin early December last year.

The highly successful R and B outfit was formed at the Philadelphia High School for Creative Perfoming Arts in 1988 as quintet. The group then suffered loss of two members in subsequent years with the first (Marc Nelson) leaving before the recording of their first studio recording.

Michael McCary also left the group in 2003 due to health issues leaving the group in the current threesome state. The group was originally made up of Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman and Marc Nelson. Boyz II Men won four Grammy Awards in the 1990s, and the trio was nominated for two Grammys in 2009.

Well known for sing along ballads, the group’s first single ‘End of the Road’ reached number 1 on the chats in 1992 and holds a record for longevity, staying at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks, breaking a decades-old record held by Elvis Presley.

Other all time hit albums for the group were Evolution, Full Circle and the Color of Love. During the stay in Zimbabwe, Boyz II Men are expected to hold skills transfer workshops with local music artistes. (izimbabwe)
