Nigerian singer/rapper D'Banj has released the video for his first commercial effort since signing to Kanye West's GOOD Music record label. The song "Oliver Twist" is the artist's latest banger and it has already shown huge potentially by being added onto rotation on major western radio stations.
The not so colouful visual for "Oliver Twist" features some sultry dancers shaking their bodies to the fast but jazzy beat, as D'Banj serenades his celebrity women, including Kanye's friend Bey. With his main subject being 'yansh', one will wonder whether D'Banj is going the Fela route with his lyrical content and his beat and flow.
Anyway, the pipe smoking artist did not forget to name drop his long time collaborator, Don Jazzy, in the song, although rumours of them having separated have been circulating for a while now. A latest African music video cannot be complete without the dance style of the moment, Azonto. (Diasporaw)
