Energy Mutodi and his dancing queens |
Confusion has rocked flamboyant rhumba musician Energy Mutodi’s band following the arrival of Innocent Mjintu, Spencer Khumbulani and Shiga Shiga. One of the band members who refused to be named confirmed there were disagreements between the new signings and the rest of the band.
“How do you feel if your boss comes and introduces to you someone and says he will assist you? Does it mean we are incompetent? He will pay for that because it has brought confusion in the band,” he said.
He said those who have been with him since he relaunched Real Sounds of Africa wanted to prove him that his moves were not acceptable. He admitted the band has not been performing well because of the confusion.
“No, we are not doing well when it comes to stagework because we feel demotivated and we will show him that we don’t want them (new band members), period!” he said.
The guitarist blasted Mutodi for offering cars and high salaries without motivating those who founded Real Sounds with him. Gift Katulika, aka Shiga Shiga, refused to comment.
Mutodi, however, said he did not offer anyone anything and accused the media of fabricating stories about unequal renumeration in his band. “I did not offer anyone anything. It is you who are creating the offers and to these guys who are complaining, I am waiting for them to take action then we take it from there,” said Mutodi.
When pressed further, Mutodi hung up. Culled from Dailynews
