'The Gentleman'set for Premier in London

A MOVIE starring Big Brother Africa star Munya Chidzonga will get its UK premiere in London on Saturday. South Africa, Zimbabwe and Malawi have all had a screening of ‘The Gentleman’.

The movie’s United States-based executive producer Sylvia Chimhina said Monday that the movie’s stars Presley Chweneyegae – famed for his role in the Oscar-winning Tsotsi – and Chidzonga would attend the premiere at Prince Charles Cinema in London’s Leicester Square on Saturday.

She said: “We are excited about coming to the UK. Since The Gentleman came out last October, we have only had the most positive news off it. “Our writer and director, Joe Njagu, recently won an award at the American International Film Festival for best ‘Best Director’ in the foreign language category while Munya scooped the National Arts Merit Award for ‘Outstanding Male’ last month.

“We’ve also had great reviews from movie critics for raising the standards of the Zimbabwean film industry; and for making a truly Pan -African film which has a cast from Zimbabwe, South Africa and Malawi.”

Apart from Chweneyegaea, a South African national, and Chidzonga, the movie also stars Miss Malawi 2011 Faith Chibale and flamboyant Zimbabwean businessman Philip Chiyangwa.
A high-speed action crime, ‘The Gentleman’ interweaves the themes of corruption, love, deception and social degradation.

United Kingdom-based Base Africa Entertainment Consultancy and Zollywood are supporting the movie producers in organising the premiere and are upbeat that it will be a huge success.
