Prince Tendai |
A DEAD musician is being sued by a man who claims he ASSAULTED him before his death. Prince Tendai Mupfurutsa could yet pay for the alleged assault from beyond the grave after Phillip Ngwarai Mudhumo sued his estate for US$2,000 damages.
In papers before the High Court, Mudhumo – a Harare pastor – claims the musician and businessman who died on December 29, 2011, assaulted him in 2010.Mudhumo – a former employee of the singer – accuses bent cops of failing to arrest him while he was alive.
Now he wants US$2,000 in damages from his estate and a further US$3,000 which he says is salary arrears. Fiona Machekeche, the executor of Mupfurutsa’s estate, submitted his will at the High Court in January.
The will shows that Mupfurutsa had considerable assets at the time of his death. He directed that his fortune should be shared between his two widows, his children – Tendai Jnr, Rutendo, Kudakwashe and Munashe – and his parents. The estate includes a fleet of vehicles, acres of land for subdivision into residential stands, major shareholding in five companies and various properties in Kuwadzana, Ruwa and Waterfalls.
The family is expected to fight Mudhumo’s lawsuit. (Newzim)
