Fans to both musical aces can look forward to be thrilled by Gwala’s golden oldies including the hit Amadamara, Khiphidayimane, Shikisha and Tshidi Skelekele as well as Tuku’s Manyemwe, Nhava, Todii and a lot more songs that have endeared him to the hearts of many Zimbabweans.
Despite the differences in the artists’ genres and backgrounds, a lot more similarities can be drawn from them. Initially they both were born and bred in the high density suburbs, Gwala in Soweto and Tuku in Highfields.
The dominant theme in Tuku’s music is discipline, an exceptional human trait in the man himself and Gwala’s music, a fusion of soul and disco, shaped by the 8 years he spent behind bars for car theft (or repossession as he claims) carries motivation for the youths and encouragement for them to stay free from crime.
Prior to the show at Richwood with the footloose son of Katekwe, the Gumba Fire hitmaker will hold a show at Holly’s Hotel on the 30th of March with the youthful contemporary musician, Jah Prayzah of the Gochi Gochi fame.
