Rising gospel star Blessing Shumba is working on a song with sungura artist Nicholas “Madzibaba” Zakaria which will feature on the upcoming musician’s album to be released in October. Shumba said all has been settled with Zakaria and the two will go into the studio in August for the song.
“I have talked to Madzibaba and he agreed to work with me. We have arranged to work on the song which we are going to record in August when I go into the studio for my forthcoming album,” said Shumba. He said they will start rehearsing the song when the two will hold a joint gig in Mutare soon.
“Madzibaba is just like my father and I am happy that we go to the same church in which I am a pastor. We have decided to take the word of God to the nation together,” said Shumba. Asked whether he is looking forward to having collaborations with other gospel artists, Shumba said he would soon approach the musicians he is considering working with.
Contacted for comment, Zakaria said he was happy to work with his pastor on a song which he thinks would be a great work of art. “I was looking forward to working with this talented gospel musician so when he approached me at the musical gala held in Chipinge recently, I accepted his proposal and we will work together. It is my pleasure to work with Shumba because he is a good singer,” said Zakaria.
Zakaria said he initially wanted the song to feature on his album but they have agreed to include it on Shumba’s album. “Actually, I wanted the song to feature on my album but after discussions we agreed to have it on Shumba’s next release. We are confident it will be a good song and we are hopeful fans will like it.” Zimstandard
