Bonzo recieves a helping hand

Bonzo
A fellow actor has come to the aid of ailing veteran actor, radio and television personality, Lawrence Simbarashe popularly known as ‘Bonzo. Charles Jackson, who acted in ZBC Television comedy 'Bonzo ne Chikwata' as Doesmatter, is renovating Bonzo’s house which was gutted by fire.

Bonzo escaped death by a whisker when his house and property worth thousands of dollars were gutted by fire in St Mary’s suburb of Chitungwiza last year.

The house fire worsened his plight. He had already fallen on hard times when the fire tragedy struck. Although many, including fellow actors have sympathised and even promised to help, few, if any, have stepped forward to help Bonzo.

Jackson who is also a music producer is one of a few who have actually followed through their promises to help Bonzo. And the man is forever grateful. The veteran actor said he is grateful to Jackson, saying he came to his rescue at the right time when he had no roof over his head.

Although Simbarashe is recovering from the shock he is still suffering from the loss of voice after he collapsed in the city centre and suffered some head injuries. When the ZBC News crew visited Simbarashe at his house, Jackson of St Marys, Chitungwiza was busy working on some repairs and renovations on Bonzo’s house.

Besides acting, Simbarashe produced a number of commercials and radio programmes for ZBC and produced for a number of musicians, among them the late George Pada famed for his hit Sadza Rinopisa
