54th Grammys to Release Behind-the-Scenes Film Dealing With Whitney Houston’s Death

The loss of Whitney Houston will be remembered by a new documentary depicting what happened behind the scenes at this year’s 54th annual Grammy Awards following the news of the singer’s death.

According to Billboard, ‘A Death in the Family: The Show Must Go On’ will premiere on June 11 at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood, Calif.

The 26-minute film focuses on “the 48 hours between late Friday afternoon when Paul McCartney’s performances were being rearranged, through the news of Whitney Houston’s death on Saturday and rehearsals and re-write sessions on Sunday,” the site says.

“There was greater interest than normal because of the circumstances, but an awful lot of people want to know about the process,” Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the Grammy Awards explained of the 2012 event. “We never said, ‘let’s look back.’

It was incredible how much stuff we didn’t have because there was little footage other than rehearsals. But we had some B-roll and we lucked out that film crew was following Paul McCartney.”

The film also features interviews with Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson and Joe Walsh. Fans will soon be available to view the documentary on Grammy.com, while plans are in the works to have it regularly shown at the Grammy Museum. Popcrush
