Kalusha Bwalya awards FAZ marketing contract to his wife

Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Kalusha Bwalya has awarded the contract to brand and market the Zambia versus Ghana game to his wife Emy Casaletti-Bwalya.

Sources at Football House have disclosed the almost $200 000 worth contract was given to KalushA’s wife without following the clearly stipulated FAZ procurement procedures.

Sources say competent Zambian companies were ignored in preference for Emy Casaletti-Bwalya’s company based in South Africa- http://www.wws.co.za

‘The contract, which sponsors like Pepsi, KCM, MTN and many other corporate companies have already paid for in advance’ revealed one source.

Sources explained that this came to light when Kalusha Bwalya’s wife Emy insisted that her organization World Wide Sports was the officially appointed branding and marketing company appointed by FAZ. She did not produce any proof of any official documentation indicating the contract.

Football House sources say the contract was given to a named Zambian company before Kalusha’s wife appeared on the scene.

FAZ General Secretary George Kasengele has since threatened to discipline the senior FAZ officials who granted the official branding and marketing to a competent local company, which had applied and won the rights.

FAZ has since given the go ahead to the Worldwide Sports to do the job at twice the original cost quoted by a well-known local company.

The Director of Sports at the Ministry of Sports and Youth is well aware of this scam but has decided to play along considering the size of the cake, sources say. Zambia watchdog
