New Controversial Nandos Advert sparks Xenophobia

With their cheeky campaigns now as famous as their chicken, food chain Nando's has released a new campaign addressing xenophobia using humour. The minute-long advert channels the thoughts of a xenophobic, who wants all foreigners in South Africa to leave the country.

Frame by frame people of different nationalities and ethnic groups disappear into clouds of smoke, until only a Khoisan man is left, who then says to the camera: "I'm not going anywhere. You ***** found us here."

Aware that, like some of their previous campaigns the advert might upset some, the company says: "As always, it is not our intention to offend or show disrespect to any individuals or culture, but to inspire dialogue, foster compassion and encourage South Africans to look critically at these issues."

The company continues in a statement: "The advertisement is aimed at addressing a social ill and our approach is one that seeks to have South Africans take a stand against these prejudices by encouraging them to embrace the diverse inhabitants of our land." View the advert below:
