Taruvinga Manjokoto, aka Shuga Shuga, is back with a bang following the release of his new album Moda Kuti Ndiite Sei which has become an instant hit. The five-track album is causing ripples on the market with songs Nditungamirirei and Muchandibaisa proving popular.
Shuga Shuga hogged the limelight a few years ago with the song Mairosi that left many convinced he would be another success story on the local music scene. Two years later he released Kuchema ne Kunakirwa that failed to make a mark on the market. mModa Kuti Ndiite Sei has brought the musician back to the limelight and is likely to take him to a higher level.
On the first track Nditungamirirei, he seeks divine intervention in his work and prays for other people to be blessed. He praises of Information minister Webster Shamu and business tycoon Philip Chiyangwa, referring to them as the best followers of his music.
In the second track Nyika Yedu, he urges Zimbabweans to be proud of the country and its resources. In the third song Musandibaisa, he urges his friends not to plot his downfall. In tracks Chibubuno and Ndoenda Zvangu Shuga Shuga explores marriage issues castigating infidelity and encouraging parents to be responsible.
He portrays a grave situation in which a wife opts to go back to her parents since her husband has forsaken her and left her reeling in hunger. Shuga Shuga expressed satisfaction with his new release saying days of fame are back. “One guy left the dance floor with a torn jacket after dancing to this music,” he boasted.
