According to the Ghanian Chronicle, Ghana and Nigeria will come together yet again to compete in an annual musical showdown “The Ghana Meets Naija” on the 30 of June. Nigerian and Ghanian music has long been intertwined, influencing one and the other and as a consequence seen as friendly rivals. The showdown is aimed at bringing out the top performers of both countries.
Nigerian hip-hop icon ‘MI’, with the hit single ‘Ara’ is tipped to be one of the performers, as well as ‘Davido’ with club knockout ‘Dami duro’. Another Nigerian star due to perform is Tiwa Savage whose singles ‘Kele kele’, ‘love me’ and ‘Oma Ga’ have been big hits in all of Africa.
Expected from Ghana are Kaakie, Guru, R2Bees and Kwaw Kesse and 4x4, with supporting acts from Keche, Chemphe and Bino and Sala.Although the artists from the different countries will be competing for supremacy in the musical world, the event organizers ‘Empire Entertainment’ emphasize that ‘Ghana Meets Naija’ aims to nurture harmony between the two countries, which are merely separated geographically by the two smaller countries, Togo and Benin.
