Taneta naManeta song hits airwaves

Urban grooves artistes have recorded a song dissing Maneta Mazanhi former Big Brother Stargame for stalling Roki’s chances of bagging $300 000 in the reality show. The song dubbed Taneta naManeta was performed by comedian Ghoridhe and Victor Dee. In the song, Goridhe laments what Roki could have done with the prize money.

"Aah vakomana 300 000 imari yakareba vakomana, dai Roki akaihwina aigona kundipawo kana something, aigona kuchengeta vana vake. Aigona kupawo mhuri yeZimbabwe, aigona kusimudzirawo nyika yedu, aigona kupawo kana maorphans/nherera. Aigonora kutengerawo lazzy t bhutsu."

He jibes at the many children Roki has fathered, saying he could have used the money to look after his brood. Dee then comes in asking Maneta why she always fought with Roki in the house. Wapedza mufaro wangu, pese ndaifunga kuti uri mumwe wangu Maneta. Apa Roki muface wangu yese iyoyo yaiitika ndichiti uri wangu Maneta. Asi sei uchidaro, ngeyi uchidaro, wanetsa. The song was written by Russell “Russo” Chiradza, Dee and Goridhe. “We wrote and composed the song on Wednesday. We are really hurt by what happened. You know Roki had so much potential and the nation was in love with him. Roki proved people wrong and they were really behind him. It is really disappointing because Maneta was planning it since morning. If you watched her diary session she was planning to get out of the house with someone."

Unfortunately it had to be her countrymate Roki. The song is not only about Maneta, but about the whole issue of unity. It is encouraging for Zimbabweans to be united wherever they are, that they must not hate or fight each other,” said Russo. Goridhe emphasises Russo’s point in the song, encouraging people to love and cherish each other wherever they are.

Ironically Roki nominated Maneta for eviction twice leading people to question his sense of patriotism and unity to a compatriot in a foreign place. Red Bar in Newlands will host a welcome party for Roki this Saturday. Roki’s manager Tobias Mutavisikwa said people should take it easy on Maneta.

“What happened is unfortunate. When you are in a confined area things happen. The most important thing is when I spoke to Roki he said he had forgiven her so people should not be too hard on her,” he said. With $300 000 up for grabs, the two Zimbabwean Big Brother representatives lost out on the opportunity to bring the prize home.

Taneta naManeta speaks about the incident that led to the disqualification of the two. Daily news
