‘No bad blood between us’

Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu has once again dismissed reports he does not see eye to eye with sungura music maestro Alick Macheso. This was after his dancer Franco Slomo failed to imitate Macheso’s dance routines during a family show in Belgravia on Sunday despite calls from fans to do so.

Franco imitated a number of musicians in Zimbabwe leaving out Macheso and the crowed called out to him to do what his former boss used to. “You said you want Machisi?” retorted Sulu leaving revellers laughing their lungs out.

Speaking at the sidelines of the show organised by National Foods, Sulu said he was just trying to liven the event. “There is no bad blood between me and Macheso, but we just want the people to enjoy what we are doing and the show,” he said.

Sulu said he had passion for children, whom he described as the future of the nation. “We have presidents, ministers and musicians in these young stars, so I always have passion to help them,” he said. The youthful musician said there were a lot of projects he had lined up for children.

Tendai Madzamba, who organised the show, said they chose Sulu to headline the event because of his passion to assist youths.

“After our research we have seen it proper to have Chimbetu to come and perform here because of his passion to help the youth and we are happy that he has been here and pledged to assist our company to help the youth,” Madzamba said.
