Jay-Z and partners accused of stiffing logo designer

Jay-z
A New York City clothing designer says Jay-Z and his former Roc-A-Fella record label partners owe him $7 million in unpaid royalties for designing their label logo. Dwayne Walker said in a lawsuit filed in Manhattan federal court that he created the Roc-A-Fella design.
The lawsuit says the Bronx designer came up with the logo in 1995 when Roc-A-Fella was just starting out. The label is now a subsidiary of Universal Music Group.  The logo features the letter R, a record and a Champagne bottle.

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys‘ Grammy-winning song ‘Empire State of Mind’ was an anthemic love letter to their beloved city of New York. Now the two New Yorkers have teamed up to help lure businesses to the Big Apple with their piano-driven anthem.

The duo’s ‘Empire State of Mind’ is now the soundtrack to Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s $50 million “The New New York Works For Business” ad campaign. The goal is to attract businesses to New York so they can create jobs and raise state tax revenue. “By sending the message that New York is the place for businesses to come and thrive, we can deliver on our number one priority: creating jobs, jobs, jobs,” said Gov. Jay-Z and Kanye West keep everyone out of their seats at Watch The Throne tour opener
