There was a string of surprises at Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza on Friday night at a show featuring Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick Macheso, Jah Prayzah and Freddy Kapfupi Manjalima, who came as a surprise artist. Organisers of the show had announced there would be a surprise artist at the gig and kept people guessing until Kapfupi went on stage.

All roads lead to Aquatic Complex

IT is winter and a number of shows have been lined up to shake off the chill for fun lovers. Tonight, all roads lead to the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex, where superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Alick “Extrabasso” Macheso, Jah Prayzah and a special guest are expected to set the town alight.

While Macheso will be playing in his own backyard, Tuku has performed at the venue on a number of occasions and those who have attended some of his joint shows with Extrabasso know that the gig is a must attend.

The inclusion of Jah Prayzah, who is currently riding high with hits like “Gochi Gochi” and “Ngwarira Kuparara”, will be the icing on the cake. Presented by Partson Chimbodza, of Chipaz Promotions, the gig will give fans a chance to start the month on a high note.

THE bar keeps rising for dendera musician Tryson Chimbetu who will curtain-raise for two of the country’s music giants, Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex tonight. Tryson — who fronts the Marxist Brothers, the group that was founded by his late father Naison — will be out to prove that he deserves the honour to perform alongside Tuku and Macheso.

Sungura giant Alick Macheso says his new band members have settled in the group and convincingly filled the gaps left by dancer Francis “Slomo” Dhaka, backing vocalist Elton Muropa and guitarist Noel Nyazanda who crossed over to Sulumani Chimbetu’s outfit at the beginning of the year.
