Betty criticises Plaxedes over Kereke US$1800

The founder of the Girl Child Network Betty Makoni has criticised singer Plaxedes Wenyika for accepting US$1,800 from Dr Munyaradzi Kereke, who is accused of raping his then eleven year old niece in December 2010.

It is not every day that Zimbabwean musicians put up spectacular acts when they launch their albums but last Friday Plaxedes Wenyika’s proved a point or two. It was a launch and a half with some of Harare’s sought-after business people and music lovers turning up at the up-market Le Seranata Restaurant where songbird Plaxedes launched her comeback fifth studio album titled “Brighter Day”.

Plaxedes Wenyika launches 5th Album

Plaxedes Wenyika on Friday launched her fifth studio album entitled, Brighter Day at a glamorous function at La Serenata restaurant in Highlands, Harare. In a stunning burgundy gown and big hair under stated with flat sandals, the diva crooned some songs from the new album. She said as the album’s title entailed, she was offering a brighter day for her fans.

Plaxedes Wenyika has set her sights on the Southern Africa market with her latest collaboration with DJ Cleo, one of South Africa’s most sought-after kwaito producers. Plaxedes, who is fondly called the “Queen of Ballads” by her fans, engaged DJ Cleo on a remix of her title track “Brighter Day” taken off her fifth album. Currently, Plaxedes is rocking the airwaves with her a single titled “Huya Ndikutaridze”.
