Suri Cruise trigered Divorce Settlement

From TMZ - Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise went from zero to nuclear war in an instant when she filed divorce papers, but it was little Suri who became the peacemaker.

Our sources say ... a week ago Thursday, after Katie filed, the hostility between the two was palpable and Suri became a weapon. Katie wanted to strip Tom of all decision-making power in Suri's life, and Tom responded by unleashing the biggest legal guns around to fight her.

We're told what turned everything around was a series of conversations that Suri would be irreparably damaged by parental warfare. It registered big time with both Tom and Katie, and it allowed their lawyers to strike a deal in what could be record time for this type of divorce.

Fact is ... it generally takes celebs in these high-profile divorces a lot longer to realize how bitterness affects small kids, so credit to both parents.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have SETTLED their divorce ... this according to Katie's lawyer.

Jonathan Wolfe tells TMZ, "This case has been settled and the agreement has been signed. We are thrilled for Katie and her family and are excited to watch as she embarks on the next chapter of her life."

TMZ reported in the last few days lawyers for both sides were in a marathon negotiation -- trying to end what began as a divorce war.

As we reported, one condition Tom had for settling was "meaningful, significant" contact with Suri.

Wolfe added, "We thank Tom's counsel for their professionalism and diligence that helped bring about this speedy resolution."

The 'Rock of Ages' star - whose third wife Katie Holmes filed for divorce from him last week after five years of marriage - topped the annual list by Forbes after earning $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012.

Cruise enjoyed a successful year after 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' earned more than $700 million at global box offices. Leonardo DiCaprio - who was last year's top earner - came joint second with funnyman Adam Sandler, who both earned $37 million.

Katie Holmes will be getting virtually nothing from Tom Cruise by way of $$ because their prenup cuts her out of his fortune ... and sources connected with Katie tell us it's just fine with her. We've learned the prenup Katie signed is long, tight and stacked in Tom's favor. We're told reports that she'll walk away with $15-20 million are absurd. Our sources say Katie will walk away with what she brought into the marriage ... and hardly anything else.

Our Katie sources tell us, "She's not about the money. She's not that girl. She loves to work." We're told there's one thing Katie is insistent on -- she wants child support from Tom, and that could turn into a big ticket item.

As for whether Katie will challenge the prenup ... it's pretty common when a divorcing couple is in conflict, and our Katie sources are not ruling that out. But they insist, "Money is not that important to her. She makes plenty on her own."

One final point ... a well-placed source connected with the couple tells us, the prenup that basically gives Katie bupkis is proof the marriage is not a sham -- she didn't tie the knot for the loot. TMZ

It looks like Tom Cruise's unlucky number is 33 - as all three of his ex-wives called it quits when they reached that very same age. Mimi Rogers, Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes were all in their early thirties when their marriages to the Hollywood leading man took a turn for the worse.

Fans of the heartbroken star searched for a meaning, some postulating that the number 33 is related somehow to Mr Cruise's religion, Scientology.

 Mr Cruise married Mimi Rogers when she was 31 in May of 1987. She was 33 when they broke up in 1990. In his second marriage to Nicole Kidman, the actors stayed together for ten years. They split in 2001, when she was 33.
