Commissioner-General’s Funfair a huge success in Harare

THE 12th edition of the Commissioner-General’s Funfair has been described as a resounding success. The mammoth family show, which attracted tens of thousands, paraded a star-studded line-up of musicians which kept revellers entertained from start to finish.

Chief coordinator of this year’s edition, Chief Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka, told H-Metro that he was overwhelmed by the crowd that gathered at Morris Depot to celebrate the annual event. “We are so excited by the crowd that graced the 12th edition of Commissioner General’s Funfair.

“The turnout was really amazing and it was beyond our imaginations. “This is the biggest family event that the ZRP has organised and we are happy with the progress. “This unique day within the police force and families was meant to celebrate in dance, music and games together. “It’s a noble idea from the Police Commissioner-General Augustine Chihuri who is the brains behind the annual event.

“We hope that the underprivileged children and families will benefit from the proceeds,” he said. Artistes who sang different genres battled it out on stage. Top musician like Alick Macheso, Nicholas Zakaria, Freddy Manjalima, Suluman Chimbetu, Stunner, The Police Band, Amavhitikazi, The Charambas, Fungisai Zvakavapano and Vabati VaJehovha played at the event.
