Fans eagerly await Tuku-Macheso show

AS the countdown to the much-hyped gig pitting music icons Oliver Mtukudzi and Alick Macheso hots up, fans of the two artistes eagerly await to hear what new material the artistes will sample for them at the show. Being the creative artistes they are, one will not be surprised to see Tuku and Extrabasso coming together on stage for a duet and the result will be fireworks!.
The show — to be held at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex on March 2 — has been the talk in entertainment circles with fans saying it is going to be one of the biggest by local artistes this year. Extrabasso has raised his fans’ expectations by promising to sample new songs at the show. People will also want to witness how Extrabasso’s new band members will gel in well with the others and those who have attended Orchestra Mberikwazvo’s previous shows were not disappointed.

Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex is Macheso’s ceremonial home and naturally his fans in the bustling town are raring to be part of the show. Apart from the new songs, Macheso also has a catalogue of hit albums to his credit, with “Zvinoda Kutendwa” — the album he released last year — having caused a stir especially with the song “Tafadzwa” dedicated to his second wife.Tuku, on the other hand, commands a large following and with Macheso in tow, the veteran singer, guitarist and dancer will without doubt be out in full force. Whether he will also sample new songs remains to be seen but the fact is that the grandmaster has never disappointed at shows of such magnitude.
