I am fulfiling a death-bed Promise - Sulu

Sulumani Chimbetu
Dendera prince Suluman Chimbetu aka Sulu said his relationship with music diva Sister Jean is a professional one and she was left in his care by the her now late father J Masters. “What people do not understand about me and Jean is that I was close to her father, the late J Masters. He helped me gain ground and brand my group when I started. Before he died, he asked me to look after her."

“I made a promise to him and I will never break it no matter what people say. The other thing about Jean is that she is someone who is not difficult to work with. And as for me, I like someone who knows what they are doing and she is just that. So you will be seeing a lot of us.” The two musicians will tonight share the stage at Harare’s Jazz 105 in what promises to be an explosive experience. The two have shared the stage before and are a marvel to watch.
Sulu says his new stage performance is called Dendera Reloaded because of the newly incorporated members to his team. The dendera star said his fans should expect fireworks from his new team as they are coming with a force that was never expected. Speaking to the Daily News Sulu said his new team is doing wonders. “People should expect new dances from the team as they have something to show them. They are working very hard to keep the band alive and I believe that from the first day we performed they did well. They still continue to excel.”

“Their act is good. I know a lot has been said by people that it would not work out but the team is proving people wrong,” he said. The artist said all the criticism is making them stronger. “Obviously they get affected by what is being said as they are human. But this is helping them — they aim higher because of all this. It is actually a source of inspiration — thanks to the fans who keep cheering us on,” said Sulu.
