Sulu stages memorable show

Sulumani Chimbetu
Moonlight Night Club at Makoni Shopping Centre last night played host to Sulumani Chimbetu and the Orchestra Dendera Kings in a show that many will find difficult to forget. It was a show with a difference with various artists joining the Orchestra Dendera Kings on stage.

The audience was taken down memory lane with renditions of Chauta and Ndarangarira Gamba. Sulu was joined by Sister Jean and Grace Muzavazi on vocals on Ndarangarira Gamba. It was a polished display indeed.

Grace normally performs with Sister Jean. It was indeed a polished rendition that kept the audiences on their feet as they sang and danced along. Other musicians who took to the stage were First Farai, Itai Madzikura, affectionately known as Madiz among his legion of fans.

Madiz had earlier curtain-raised for Suluman. Perhaps the best was yet to come. When Jah Prayzah hopped onto the stage, the audience went wild. Soon he was joined by Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima of the Mai Nga fame.

Innocent Mjintu’s son Learmore almost stole the show when he took the rhythm guitar, one could see a star in the making. Learmore proved to many that he could emulator his father. What made the show unique was the idea of involving many artists.

When Peter Moyo and the Utakataka Express joined the fray, the atmosphere was carnival. Utakataka Express and Orchestra Dendera fans could not help remembering Simon Chimbetu and Tongai Moyo.

Yakasvika Tsamba reminded many of Dhewa’s love songs. The audience was left clamoring for more as Jah Prayzah and the others went for their respective shows. The Gochi Gochi hit-maker had a date with fans at Tafa Night Club in Unit D, Seke, Chitungwiza. Perhaps musicians could try and have more collaborations as the fusion of skills can produce quality live shows. Culled from Dailynews
