New Madiba fashion label launched

Johannesburg. — Inspired by her father Nelson Mandela’s book “Long Walk To Freedom”, Zenani Mandela-Dlamini and her children, Zamaswazi Dlamini and Zaziwe Manaway, have created the clothing label L.W.T.F Apparel.

Mandela’s granddaughters Zamaswazi and Zaziwe said their apparel would not only aspire to revitalise the fashion industry with fresh, riveting creations, but they also plan to expose Madiba’s legacy to the global market. L.W.T.F Apparel will initially be sweaters, T-shirts and caps.

“We aim at obtaining a high audience recognition in order to achieve a significant shift in attitudes and behaviour surrounding fashion and social responsibility,” they said. The duo say they also want to reinforce the role Madiba played in South Africa’s freedom struggle and on the international stage.
“The label intends to inspire those who wear it by making every day a Mandela day.

The diversity in designs will ensure there is something to suit everyone. It will allow a multitude of people to unify in celebrating Nelson Mandela the global grandfather.

“We, as a family, with the support of our grandfather, are proud of L.W.T.F Apparel and believe it will be accepted by people from all walks of life. We hope young and old will want to be associated with the brand,” they said.

The launch of L.W.T.F Apparel will coincide with Madiba’s 94th birthday on July 18. Thereafter, a new line will be introduced annually. Merchandise is available via the virtual online store www.lwtfbrand.com. — Sowetan.
