R&B sensation John Legend was scheduled to perform on October 15, at Mbombela Stadium, as part of the Sixties Festival in Nelspruit. Sam Sekgota, CEO of concert promoters, Molite Productions, said in a statement: “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are not able to hold the One-Night-Only Concert featuring John Legend as planned.
“His fans should know that he was very willing and excited to perform in South Africa but we unfortunately could not hold the show as scheduled." He did not provide a reason. The statement added that promoters hope the concert with Legend can take place early in 2012."Patrons who have already purchased their tickets prior to this announcement can apply to redeem their full refund at any PostNet outlets. For a ticket exchange, patrons should visit the Ticketpros to have their original tickets re-issued at discounted costs." Notwithstanding this announcement, the organisers said plans for the Annual Mpumalanga Sixties Weekend are continuing at full steam over the weekend from Friday, 14th October until Sunday, 16th October.
The weekend’s festivities will feature top South African talent, such as Zahara, Zakes Bantwini, Theo Kgosinkwe, Teargas, Liquideep and a star studded DJ line-up. The Annual Sixties Weekend, staged at the Mbombela Stadium, has in the past attracted crowds of up to 15,000 patrons. (Sowetan)
