For those ladies who are blessed with curvy body figures, October 29 has been set for the Miss Curvy pageant finals. The competition is coming with a catch as it will proceed to countries in southern Africa.
Speaking to the Daily News, Miss Curvy founder and patron of ZimGossip modelling agency, Mercy Mushaninga, said the winning queen will get $1 000, First Princess $400 and the Second Princess $200. “The finals are set for the end of October. The winners will get the prize money and more gift vouchers. We have several sponsors, but they have not yet confirmed the prizes they will sponsor,” said Mushaninga.
Winners will get a chance to battle it out with other heavily built ladies in the southern African region. “It will not only end here, but we are taking the competition to South Africa and other southern African countries. We want to make it a regional thing,” she said. Mushaninga was in South Africa two weeks ago, running around and organising the logistics of the South African competition.

“I am working with Josie Mahachi from Africa Magic as well as another lady who owns a modelling agency. We will do the regional competitions, but it will be next year, as this year it is already too late. Right now I am trying to get in touch with people from other countries so that we can organise competitions there and set the date for the finals,” she said.
The Miss Curvy Harare competitions were held in August. Mushaninga and her team proceeded to Bulawayo and Mutare in search of more talent. In Bulawayo, they could not hold the pageant but instead handpicked the finalists due to financial constraints. They got six contestants from Bulawayo and three from Mutare.
The national finalists are Patience Jubane, Daphney Steinbridge, Robin Rahman, Daniella Casmiro, Ebbah Muza, Jaqueline Mashingaidze, Valerie Kondo, Thobekile Mabhena, Nomsa Ncube, Pretty Nyathi, Tracy Ndlovu, Kathryn Chanetsa and Bekezela Mlalazi. Mushaninga is also organising on October 22 a 70 kilometre walk for a greater good as they seek to help out the community. The walk will see models raise funds and help out deprived families.
