All set for Miss Chi-Town

Former Beauty Queen Brita with the contestants
ALL is set for the Miss Chitungwiza beauty contest to be held at the Chitungwiza Aquatic Complex on Saturday. A bevy of close to 17 models will take to the ramp and show the stuff they are made of. The modelling showcase - that was last held three years ago - is aimed at promoting models from the town.
Former Miss Zimbabwe Brita Masalethulini, who was the reigning national queen in 1999 before winning the Miss Malaika crown in 2001, will grace the event.

Brita groomed and lectured the models on the importance of self-confidence, deportment and self-belief. She helped the 17 contestants through their rehearsals. Pageant organisers Raynadine Monson and Fatsani Kulera commended Brita saying she showed the models the way to go. "The girls were lucky to be graced by the presence of Brita Masalethulini, former Miss Zimbabwe and Miss Malaika, who spoke to the girls about beauty pageants and the modelling industry.

"She lectured on grooming and deportment and the importance of self-belief in whatever they do. It was quite a strong motivational talk that got the girls fired up for the event," Kulera said. Kulera urged people from Chitungwiza and Harare to come in their numbers and support the event that will start at 5.30pm while tickets will be going for US$3, US$5 and US$10 for the VIP seating. Talented rapper Stunner will headline the line-up of entertainers together with suave rapper Mudiwa Mutandwa. Diva Chyll will also get a chance to showcase her talent. Talented hip-hop artiste Shingirayi "Mau Mau" Sabeta of the "Chii Chinonzi Mau Mau" hit song will be the host.
