Beauty queens to get ZTA jobs

The Zimbabwe Tourism Authority is ready to give jobs to the 2011 Miss Zimbabwe winners in the event that they fail to get something worthwhile to do. All the four queens - Miss Zimbabwe Malaika Mashandu, Miss Tourism Rumbidzai Mudzengerere, Miss Universe Lisa Morgan and Miss Talent Nadia Gori have not yet secured any form of employment, a few weeks before their term of office comes to an end.
Being a national beauty queen gives one a competitive edge, and more often than not, opens doors for opportunities, locally or internationally.

And when that happens, it becomes easier for one to get a job and better still enable one to sign up for lucrative modelling contracts in the region and elsewhere. However, it seems all hope is not lost for the four, who have since been given a golden opportunity to work for ZTA, until other opportunities arise.
In addition, they will also retain the cars they have been using during their tenure as national queens.

The tourism authority was the official administrator of the country's premier beauty contest for the last six years, before returning the task to the Miss Zimbabwe Trust. ZTA chief executive officer Karikoga Kaseke said the four were the organisation's last seed, and needed to be taken care of. "They were our last crop of models that we groomed following our decision to hand over the licence back to the Miss Zimbabwe Trust.

"It will then be so unfair to throw them into the streets with nothing to fall back on, so we will renew their employment contracts until such a time when they decide to pursue other avenues and opportunities," he said.
His gesture of goodwill was met with enthusiasm by two of the models that were present - Nadia and Rumbidzai - who immediately expressed an interest in working for the authority. However, plans for the other two - Lisa and Malaika - were not clear as they were away on duty.  (Herald)
