Muddy Face, Chibadura Brothers put up splendid shows

The late John Chibadura and Cephas Mashakada
Chitungwiza-based outfits, who both lost their frontmen, The Sounds of the Muddy Face and the Chibadura Brothers on Friday night put up splendid shows at Club Warehouse and Arnomush Night Spot respectively.
The Sounds of the Muddy Face lost leader Cephas Mashakada last year, while John Chibadura, who led the Chibadura Brothers, died in 1999. Roderick Chemudhara, who performed with the Chibadura Brothers, now leads the Tembo Brothers, the group Chibadura fronted.

Club Warehouse, a popular and spacious joint in the Chitungwiza industrial area has played host to a number of famous groups in recent times. Arnomush is situated at Huruyadzo Shopping Centre in St Mary’s.
According to Arnold Mushonga proprietor of Arnomush, Club Warehouse and Arnomush Night Spot, theyare giving these groups the opportunity to grow in their careers and talents.

“We realised these groups lost their father in the case of the Chibadura Brothers and leader in Cephas Mashakada. As entertainment joints, we do not want to see this talent go to waste. “This is why we have decided to contract them to play every week at Club Warehouse and Arnomush. Our appeal is for the people of Chitungwiza and beyond to come and support them so that they can pick themselves up,” said Mushonga.

“Those who attended the Sounds of the Muddy Face show will testify that you could not feel the absence of Cephas Mashakada. You could hear him behind the lyrics, especially when they gave their rendition of Samson. As for Chibadura Brothers, Mukadzi Wamakandiroorera forced all revellers to rise and dance,” he said. Manyowa, has not lost much of his yesteryear dancing skills and kept the crowd in awe throughout the show at Arnomush.

Contacted for comment, Chemudhara said he would be helping the Chibadura Brothers from time to time since they did not have guitarists. “I will be helping vana vamudhara (my boss’s children) since they do not have guitarists. I hold my own shows with the Tembo Brothers,” said Chemudhara. Chitungwiza is famed for producing some of the country’s best musicians, both living and departed.

Names that come to mind include Marshall Munhumumwe of the Four Brothers, System Tazvida of Chazezesa Challengers, Mr Bulk among those that have passed on and Alick Macheso, Jah Pryzah, Baba Mechanic Manyeruke, Hosiah Chipanga, First Farai among others. (Dailynews)
