Sulumani Chimbetu |
Award winning Dendera musician Sulumani Chimbetu will spend the Easter Holidays in the United Kingdom holding a series of live shows. Nehanda Radio understands at least three shows have been lined up amid tight security.
The Orchestra Dendera Kings boss will stage a show in London’s Club Oasis on Good Friday before he proceeds to Leeds for another performance on Easter Saturday at West India Centre on April 7. He will then proceed to Birmingham for another performance at Ruskin Hall on Easter Sunday.
One of the show organisers, Tomson Chauke confirmed the tour. “Sulu will be here for the Easter Holidays. We are working hard to ensure that Sulu’s tour becomes a success. Their work permits are currently being processed so that they secure visas. “We are also promising maximum security for him and we will make sure that his needs are fully catered for. Sulu will be sharing the stage with JK of Zambia.”
Following a death threat that Sulumani recently received the musician implored his UK promoter to guarantee him maximum security when he tours. Tour organiser Brian Bako promised the artist and his band ultimate protection. Sulu received a death threat from a fan, apparently based in South Africa, saying he should not visit Johannesburg unless he returns band members he snatched from Alick Macheso.
Sulumani meanwhile has promised to dish out his artistic verve in the UK. “It will be a good time to meet fellow Zimbabweans in a foreign land. I will deliver my best performance. Our country is famous for being peaceful and I will preach the same gospel. It will be fireworks as we are going to perform new songs off the forth-coming album,” he said.
The Kwedu star will however hope he will not encounter the problems he had in the UK last year when he cancelled the last date of a tour originally scheduled to last two weeks. This was after promoters failed to meet his financial commitments and left him stranded. (Nehanda radio)
