Gospel musician Stanley Gwanzura affectionately known as Pastor G is set to launch his eighth album tomorrow at Zaoga Centre at Kingston House in the city centre. The “street preacher” as he is sometimes called, has promised a package full of messages that revive hope.
Titled Indestructible the 12-track album already has two singles, Tose and Dreaming Again fairing well on local radio stations. “I am now concentrating on delivering music that means something so that listeners can have something to refer to for encouragement,” said Pastor G.
“On the track Dreaming Again I sing about resuscitating the beauty of dreaming, as you know our country went through a lot of turmoil and that has discouraged a lot of people.” Another gem to look forward to on the album is jazz song, Chiedza, which features Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana.
The song, according to Pastor G, talks about the passage of time and how God blesses people and celebrates childbirth as well as weddings. Mabiribobi, which features poet Robson Shoes, I Will Wait On you, as well as the title track Indestructible are some of the top-notch songs to expect.
The musician said the album carries a different sound from previous projects as he worked with various renowned producers. “On this album I worked with Andrew Baird, David “DS” Sengwayo, McDonald Chidavaenzi, Delani Makhalima and other tracks were recorded in Canada and the United States,” he said.
Pastor G, who last month staged a successful show in South Africa together with Prince Mafukidze, said they plan to make another visit there. “We plan to stage another concert in South Africa towards the end of the year, but before that, we are going to do a live DVD recording in Harare,” he said.
The album which is to be launched at a local church will have supporting acts such as Mafukidze, Herman Chimusoro, Shower Power and Covenant Dance team. Newsday
