Sulu to perform in Chipinge

Sulumani Chimbetu
Sulumani Chimbetu is expected to set Chipinge alight with a show at Yadzonzayi Complex tomorrow. The show has been arranged due to public demand in the town after Sulu’s good performance at the 21st February Movement gala that was held in Chipinge two months ago.

Yesterday, Donemore Hlerema the proprietor of the complex, said he was happy that Sulu was coming back to Chipinge. “The older Chimbetus always toured this area and I am happy that Sulu is following his father’s footsteps,” said Hlerema.

“There have been numerous calls to have him perform here again after his splendid performance at the gala and I saw it fit to engage him for his fans’ cause. After all they want to hear him chant ‘Chipinge kata!’”

For Sulu, the tour could be the beginning of an adventurous journey as he has often been castigated by his fans for concentrating on Harare and a few other bigger urban centres. Sulu said he would soon make plans to visit more small towns and rural areas.

“Of course Harare is where the activity normally is, but then there are also people in those smaller areas who want to see us,” he said. “The only way we can do justice to them is to increase our visits to these places so that we get in touch with the people.” Newsday
