Adele’s ’21′ Surpasses 9 Million U.S. Sales

Adele
She may not move too many magazines, but Adele can sure as heck move units. The British powerhouse just passed 9 million U.S. sales of her sophomore smash, ’21.’

Billboard reports that Adele’s megahit is back at No. 2 on the Top 200 this week, marking its 64th consecutive week in the top 10. What’s even more impressive? ’21′ is only the 29th album to surpass 9 million copies since the SoundScan era began in 1991.

Go girl! She’s currently holding the second longest stay in the top 10, tying with Paula Abdul’s ‘Forever Your Girl.’ If she sticks it out another eight weeks, she will tie for first place with Alanis Morissette’s debut, ‘Jagged Little Pill.’

It’s only the latest feat ’21′ has accomplished. Three weeks ago, Adele bested Michael Jackson‘s ‘Thriller’ as the No. 5 best-selling album of all time in the U.K. It had already previously outsold Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Back to Black’ as the best-selling album in the U.K. in the 21st century, which may explain the rumors of Winehouse’s feeling threatened by the heartbreak queen.

In another testament to the how unstoppable her album is, Adele leads the 2012 Billboard Music Award nominations. You can tune in tonight at 8 PM on ABC to see if she wins! popcrush
