Comedian-cum-musician Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima has embarked on a programme to groom youths that are interested in acting and music at his home in Epworth. In an interview with Standard Life&Style, Kapfupi said his humble beginnings had led him to start the programme.
“We started as mere young, inexperienced actors in the streets with some guys who included Marabha (Charles Merisi) and it was not easy. I have realised how a lot of young people are failing to have their talent recognised so I have decided to assist them,” he said.

“We have talented actors in the country but then they need mentoring and exposure so that they can make it to the mainstream arts industry.” The Amai Nga hit-maker said in order to further his endeavour he has planned to set up an arts centre in Epworth.
“I have acquired land for the arts centre and if all goes well we will start setting-up some structures by the end of this year.” Kapfupi said last Monday he had met some arts promoters and business people to discuss the way forward on the construction of the arts centre.
If his project is a success, Kapfupi will join musicians like Nicholas Zakaria and Oliver Mtukudzi who have established arts centres. Zim Standard
