From a mere farm boy herding cattle at Mara Farm in Ruwa, a gardener at a farm along Mutare Road, to a street theatre actor who realised his dream of breaking onto local television and eventually making a huge splash as a sungura musician.

That alone defines comedian-cum-musician Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima who typifies the proverbial rags-to-riches story of how perseverance eventually pays off for those who work hard in to achieve their goals and ambitions in life.

Kapfupi grooms new talent, plans academy

Comedian-cum-musician Freddy “Kapfupi” Manjalima has embarked on a programme to groom youths that are interested in acting and music at his home in Epworth. In an interview with Standard Life&Style, Kapfupi said his humble beginnings had led him to start the programme.

“We started as mere young, inexperienced actors in the streets with some guys who included Marabha (Charles Merisi) and it was not easy. I have realised how a lot of young people are failing to have their talent recognised so I have decided to assist them,” he said.

Daily News reports that all is not well in the Orchestra Ndozvo Band fronted by pint-sized comedian-cum-musician Freddy Manjalima aka Kapfupi. The band’s tour of Midlands province last week was characterised by bickering and fist-fighting. The violence started in Norton and band members were still at each other’s throats when they reached the Midlands province.
