Ace Comedian Kapfupi |
Following two successful years in the music industry ace comedian cum-musician Freddy Kapfupi Manjalima is considering revisiting his acting career this year when he releases a new comedy dubbed What Goes Around Comes Around Part 2 next month. Kapfupi said there is need to reconsider his fans that supported him when he came into the limelight through street theatre.
Most of my fans know me as a comedian because I started as an actor so I just feel there is need to revisit the genre and I have decided to have a new comedy which will be ready by next month, said Kapfupi. He added he would try to maintain a balance between acting and music.
Those who love my music have to be patient this year because I will have to complete the production and marketing of the comedy before I can work on a music album. However, I will still do live music shows. We always spice up the shows with a bit of comedy and I believe all the fans will have their share.
Kapfupi said he had added new characters in his comedy including his wife Precious Kabrito popularly known as Amai Nga whom he said was still polishing up her role. This time we will have new characters that include my wife and my very short friend Majisa (Justice Mushorananga)who has proved to be very talented.
The comedian blasted piracy saying it was the major hindrance in any artists work. Piracy will be the major challenge that will obviously affect my comedy production. That is the major reason why I delay releasing new material those who participate in the production need to be paid. If I get nothing out of it then where can you get the money to pay them? queried Kapfupi. He however assured his cast he would make resources available for the production.
Kapfupi came into limelight through his role in street theatre television series Magariro. His comical antics stole the hearts of many he went on to produce the much followed Dindingwe Rinonaka Richakweva Rimwe and What Goes Around Comes Around Part 1 before shifting his focus to music. (Newsday)
