Usher Performing with Digital Dancers for American Express’ Livestream Series

Usher Raymond
Usher has teamed up with American Express, VEVO and YouTube to present ‘American Express Unstaged,’ a live online streaming concert on June 11 at 4PM EST. The show will take place at the Hammersmith Apollo in London and is directed by Hamish Hamilton.

Not only that, the R&B superstar is planning a rather unique visual experience with his performance. According to the New York Times, Usher will use virtual dancers, created by online viewers, to back him up during the concert. “Literally, people will be able to create their own avatar and have it dance on the screen with Usher,” said Hamilton of the digital production.

Canada-based multimedia company Moment Factory came up with the idea of the virtual dancing technology and wanted Usher to test it out. “They’re feverishly beavering away, trying to put flesh on the bones of this fantastic idea that they said they possibly could do and we all jumped on,” says Hamilton. “They foolishly, in a meeting, said, ‘Yeah, we can do this.’ At which point we went, ‘All right — do it. We’ll see you in two weeks in London.’”

Wow! We are definitely excited about Usher pulling off this virtual experience live onstage. This is great way to promote his album and draw fans into his music. You can catch Usher’s digital performance on his video channel www.youtube.com/UsherVEVO on June 11 at 4PM EST.Usher’s new album ‘Looking 4 Myself,’ will dance into stores on June 12. Popcrush
