THE 2011 edition of the Lion Lager Beer Festival was dampened by the absence of Jamaican music legend Beres Hammond who was billed to perform alongside his countrymen, Cocoa Tea and Fantan Mojah, but he did not pitch up.
Delta Beverages marketing manager Ms Patricia Murambinda said they lost touch with Hammond on Thursday, although his band arrived yesterday. “Everything was in order, but we lost contact with Beres due to a mix-up in communication. He moved from his base in Jamaica to London for some performances last week,” she said.
“We are still trying to ascertain from him what really transpired. Hammond was supposed to fly from London on Wednesday night and arrive in Zimbabwe on Thursday. However, the travel agency that was handling his travel arrangements informed us that he was not aboard the scheduled flight.”

Ms Murambinda said Cocoa Tea and Fantan Mojah would perform in Harare and Bulawayo. Cocoa Tea will also tour the Delta Beverages plant in the capital this week.
