Peter Moyo breaks down on stage

Peter Moyo
The "Young Igwe" - Peter Moyo - failed to finish his performance as emotions got the better of him and he broke down in front of fans at a family show held on Sunday at the City Sports Bar. Dhewa failed to control his emotions when Alick Macheso joined him on stage to sing the line " . . . vakanditorera baba wangu", probably in reference to the young singer's loss of his father late last year.

This was after he had set the party on fire with his act that included his late father's hit song "Naye", which had the crowd singing along to every word. Scores of people packed City Sports Bar to witness a performance by the King of Sungura, Macheso and the budding artistes in the mould of Moyo and Tryson Chimbetu. Macheso surprised the crowd as he was escorted to the stage by dancehall singer Jah Prayzah, sampled the latter's two hits - "Gochi Gochi" and "Sungano" - much to excitement of music lovers.

The sungura kingpin revealed his intention to assist up and coming artistes, especially the sons and daughters of fallen music legends like Dembo and Moyo. "I am going to help Peter, the Dembo sons and Biggie Tembo in their music careers so you should look forward to more shows like this one in the near future.
"People can say what they want but I do not see any problem with assisting promising youngsters," said Macheso.

An impressing Savious Karikodzi fitted well in the shoes of Spencer Khumulani, the former Utakataka Express bass guitarist who is reported to have joined Energy Mutodi's Real Sounds of Africa together with Gift "Shiga Shiga" Katulika. Khumulani and Shiga Shiga were present at the show with the latter taking part in the performance and the former watching from the auditorium.
