Zahara returns to Zimbabwe

August 2012 will see South African music sensation, Zahara, return to Zimbabwe for shows in Harare and Bulawayo and, according to organisers, a celebration with Zimbabwean fans of her sweep of the SAMA awards earlier in the year.

Her debut shows in Zimbabwe, held in March in the same two cities, were sold out successes. In Harare she performed at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC) and in Bulawayo at Queens Sports Club.

This time round she heads for Borrowdale Racecourse in the capital and once again at Queens in the City of Kings. The shows are set for August 10 and 11 respectfully.

In Harare she will be supported by Alexio, Prudence Katomene-Mbofana and Buddo Knoxy among other acts. Her opening acts for the Bulawayo show are yet to be named.
At the 2012 South African Music Awards (SAMAs) held in April Zahara was the star of the night, with a well-received performance and a list of awards in one night that many artists never even smell in a lifetime.

Zahara won in all the categories she was nominated, taking home the Best Smooth Urban Music Album for Loliwe, Best Collaboration for Incwad'Encane featuring Zimbabwean DJ, George Munetsi, the Special Award: Best Selling Album, Newcomer of the Year, Female Artist of the Year and Album of the Year.

Zahara’s debut album Loliwe, released last year, went platinum in two weeks and double platinum in just under three weeks, selling over 100 000 copies in South Africa and making her only the second musician, after Brenda Fassie, to reach this figure in such a small space of time. Zimbojam
