Cynthia Mare's tribute to Prince Tendai

Cynthia Mare
UK-BASED songbird Cynthia Mare released a song dedicated to the late musician and businessman, Prince Tendai who died last month aged 54. Prince Tendai brought global R n' B star, Akon and dancehall sensation, Sean Paul to Zimbabwe under his Real Deal promotions. Meanwhile Mare’s song, Hatina Musha Panyika was produced by Joseph Madziyire and features Zimpraise Choir and it exudes a spiritual presentation of human destiny.

Mare says she was inspired by realisation of the contribution Prince Tendai made to Zimbabwe’s music industry as well as his dedication to the development of young artists. In the song, she projects the tribute in a universal manner through the non-personalisation of the track in recognition of other great artists and most of all ... loved ones who have also passed on. “Prince Tendai inspired a lot of young musicians to go for their dreams. Not only did he inspire me, he also helped many Zimbabwean artists,” Mare said.

The soulful but melancholic song plant tries to give hope to all those suffering bereavement making it a befitting universal tribute! Hatina Musha Panyika echoes through the funeral psyche of many Zimbabwean communities. The song connects the listener to the divine and the affirmation that this world is not our home.

“In his philanthropic work, Tendai organised and paid for their studio time; for others he signed and facilitated release of their music’, Mare said. The Catch me When I Fall diva openly acknowledged the support she received in her musical career. “He welcomed me into Zimswag and the first show I was involved in was the Sean Paul and Akon show,” she said.

“Prince Tendai was a cool dude with a big heart. Many people loved him. I think a lot of people will remember him and cherish his legacy. “I lost my mother in August 2011 and the wounds are still fresh. I not only pay tribute to Tendai, but to all the people we have lost, till we meet again, R.I.P’. (NewZimbabwe.com)
