All set for BBA casting session

Wendall and Karen
All is set for the Big Brother Africa (BBA) 7 open auditions/casting session which will run from March 9 to 11 at Meikles Hotel, Harare. The race is on to get into the famous house and anyone who wants to enter must partner with another person to be admitted as a pair. Like last year, this years edition will see each of the participating countries sending two representatives, but the difference is representatives will know each other prior to the show unlike last year when they only became acquainted when they entered the house.

The auditions will be carried out by the Endemol and MNet production teams and will run till Sunday. All those interested in being housemates have been given a last chance to audition. From the auditions, the lucky pair will be contacted to prepare to enter the BBA house. Two housemates will remain a secret till May 6 when the show is launched. Dubbed Double Up, this years series will last for three months and one lucky winner will walk away with prize money of $300 000.

MNet Africa managing director Biola Alabi said: Weve had positive feedback from BBA fans who love the challenge of entering in pairs. Its great to see them embrace the change so enthusiastically! She added they had opened up casting sessions for those who did not manage to submit their entry forms on time.

We know that sometimes people do miss the cut-off date for sending in their paper entries, so were opening the casting sessions again this year for late entries. Those people need to simply come to the casting venue and meet the team, she said. Once selected, the two Zimbabweans will have to keep the show viewers entertained so as to gain votes from them.

They will also have to find ways of challenging representatives from Angola, Botswana, Ghana, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia in order to win. The two should be tolerant of views and lifestyle choices other than their own and must have the social flexibility to live in close proximity with others.

Last year, Zimbabwe was represented by Vimbai Mutinhiri and Wendall Parson. Nigerias Karen Igho and Parson were joint winners and won $200 000 each. (Dailynews)
